Root Canal Therapy in Hooksett, NH

Endodontic Presentation

To provide you with a better understanding of endodontic therapy, we have provided the following multimedia presentation. Many common questions pertaining to root canals are discussed.

What is a root canal?

A root canal is one of the most common dental procedures performed, well over 14 million every year. This simple treatment can save your natural teeth and prevent the need of dental implants or bridges.

At the center of your tooth is pulp. Pulp is a collection of blood vessels that helps to build the surrounding tooth. Infection of the pulp can be caused by trauma to the tooth, deep decay, cracks and chips, or repeated dental procedures. Symptoms of the infection can be identified as visible injury or swelling of the tooth, sensitivity to temperature or pain in the tooth and gums.

If you experience any of these symptoms, your dentist will most likely recommend non-surgical treatment to eliminate the diseased pulp. This injured pulp is removed and the root canal system is thoroughly cleaned and sealed. This therapy usually involves local anesthesia and may be completed in one or more visits depending on the treatment required. Success for this type of treatment occurs in about 90% of cases. If your tooth is not amenable to endodontic treatment or the chance of success is unfavorable, you will be informed at the time of consultation or when a complication becomes evident during or after treatment. We use local anesthesia to eliminate discomfort. In addition, we will provide nitrous oxide analgesia if indicated. You will be able to drive home after your treatment, and you probably will be comfortable returning to your normal routine.

What happens after treatment?

When your root canal therapy has been completed, a record of your treatment will be sent to your restorative dentist. You should contact their office for a follow-up restoration within a few weeks of completion at our office. Your restorative dentist will decide on what type of restoration is necessary to protect your tooth (usually a crown). To prevent further decay, continue to practice good dental hygiene.

How much will it cost?

The cost associated with this procedure can vary depending on factors such as the severity of damage to the affected tooth and which tooth is affected. In general, endodontic treatment is much less expensive than tooth removal and replacement with an artificial tooth (dental implant).

To have a teenager leave a root canal therapy appointment smiling (and saying that she enjoyed the visit!) really says a lot about Dr. Katz and his whole staff. We can't thank you enough for making this experience a positive one.

Thank you to the entire staff and Dr. Katz. My experience was nothing less than fantastic. Dr. Katz genuinely cares about his patients and takes his time to explain EVERYTHING!!! I wasn't shocked at all to receive a phone call directly from the Dr. later this evening asking how I was doing. I am a United States Marine Veteran. Dr. Katz cares deeply for our Veterans and made it very clear to me how much he appreciates us. This is my second root canal therapy with Dr. Katz. and I would recommend anyone who seeks services he provides to give his office a call. Thank you to you and your staff Dr. Katz.

I highly recommend Dr Katz and his staff. They scheduled me as soon as they could and couldn’t have been any nicer and welcoming. It’s so nice how much they care about you - he even called later in the day to make sure I was healing ok. Thanks so much Katz Endo.

I am so happy I chose this office to complete a sudden need for a root canal! I had no idea where to start and didn't want to go to the unknown practice my regular dentist sends patients to. I was referred to Dr. Katz by a family member who had a wonderful experience here. Even though it was a bit of a drive for me, it is more important to me to have quality care and expertise. His office staff are all friendly and nonjudgmental, and Dr. Katz educates on the process every step of the way. I am normally a bit nervous with dread at dental visits, I just don't relax, and I can honestly say this was a great experience. No pain, not even when Novocain was injected...very gentle with entire procedure....Above and beyond infection control practices during this COVID time every step of the way...friendly and family-like staff....I would not hesitate to tell anyone to pick here and will return if needed in the future!!

I had an appointment for root canal therapy with the giant endodontist practice in Concord. With the coronavirus hit, they canceled my appointment and left an outgoing message on their voicemail saying don’t bother to leave a message because we won’t be checking it. I was in dire need of treatment and a friend recommended Dr. Katz. I can’t say enough good things about him and his assistant. The procedure was pain-free and he is detail oriented. He does not settle for anything other than perfection. His chair-side manner it’s friendly and comforting. The hardest part of the procedure was to keep from laughing during the procedure because he and his team are actually quite funny. Finally, although I was not shopping for price, his fee was about 70% of what the big clinic had quoted me. later that evening after the procedure, he even called me from his cell phone to make sure I was doing fine. Recommended without reservation. This is the only guy to go to. Kudos.
